The primary purpose is to help achieve the stated goals of the VVMA and to benefit both the state association and the industry that supports it. See the companies that participate in the Industry Council. Visit http://www.vvma.org/Industry-Council.aspx
Mentor Program - This is a joint effort between the Va-Md College of Veterinary Medicine, Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia VMAs. Volunteers from these respective groups provide guidance and advice, resulting in a positive impact on our current veterinary students and beyond. For more information on the mentor program please visit http://www.vvma.org/Mentor-Program.aspx
Representation - The voice of many is more powerful than the voice of one. The VVMA represents the interests of more than 1,000 veterinarians. This is a powerful voice that gets work done to benefit you in the legislature and other government bodies. The VVMA Legislative Committee, along with the legislative consultant, tracks, initiates and acts to influence legislation affecting you and your practice.
Day At The Capitol - When the Virginia General Assembly is in session, the VVMA arranges an opportunity to introduce organized veterinary medicine to legislators. As a member, this day is your opportunity to review and discuss, along with your colleagues, the current bills being introduced and debated.
The VVMA is for veterinarians, and run by veterinarians. The Board of Directors elected from regions across the Commonwealth, the Executive Board and VVMA Committees look out for your interests. Your participation is critical in helping the VVMA be successful. When a key issue in veterinary medicine surfaces, members have peace of mind knowing a group of their peers is working to address it.
