Pro-Pet LLC, St. Marys, Ohio, has initiated a voluntary recall of a limited number of dry dog and cat foods (including Hubbard Life dog and cat foods, Joy Combo cat foods, and QC Plus dog foods) for possible Salmonella contamination. A single field test indicated products manufactured during a two day period, on a single production line may have the potential for Salmonella contamination. Pro-Pet LLC is voluntarily recalling the potentially impacted products made during this timeframe. There have been no reports of illness related to this product to date.   • The Virginia Veterinary Medical Association (VVMA) announces the release of a podcast discussing how families can keep their pets safe during a hurricane or other emergency situation. In the podcast, Samuel Tate, D.V.M., secretary of the board of directors for the Virginia State Animal Response Team (VSART), provides advice for both cat and dog owners to help them prepare for a hurricane or tropical storm and prevent separation.
