Even if you will not be attending the in-person Mentor Program event in October, we encourage any and all veterinarian mentors to attend one of the Making the Most out of Mentoring sessions.

This session and discussion will be led by Garry Morgan, Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at VA-MD College of Veterinary Medicine.

There are two opportunities to participate:

  • Tuesday, September 26 at 6:30-8:00pm
  • Wednesday, September 27 at 6:30-8:00pm

Session Description & Goals:

Mentoring relationships are meant to provide valuable support and guidance to students as they navigate their careers, explore new career paths, or consider further education and training. This session is designed to help mentors cultivate meaningful connections and to explore factors that may impact these relationships.

  • Participants will explain qualities of a “good” mentor
  • Participants will identify aspects of identity that impact the mentor relationship
  • Participants will develop a toolkit to engage mentees
